Syndrome Definition Model and API

Lead: Jeremy Espino MD

In October of 2007, Dr. Wendy Chapman convened the leaders of the foremost syndromic surveillance systems in the United States to collaboratively arrive at a set of accepted syndrome definitions for chief complaints.  As a complement to this meeting,  We have created a data model for encoding these syndrome definitions.  The proposed data model shall be used for distribution of machine readable, computable syndrome definitions.  The data model is an XML schema and is accompanied by a JAVA API to parse and generate XML documents that adhere to the schema.

The data model and API is available via Google Code .
